As the year comes to a close, it’s a moment to reflect on progress and pause to celebrate individuals whose dedication turns mission into measurable impact.

ZOLL is proud to present the Impact in Action Award to Rachel Moyer, recognizing 25 years of advocacy, education, and community activation that have strengthened schools, communities, and lives across Pennsylvania and beyond.

In December 2000, Rachel lost her 15 year old son, Greg Moyer, to sudden cardiac arrest during a high school basketball game in Pennsylvania. There was no automated external defibrillator (AED) available. Greg did not survive.

Rather than accept this tragedy, Rachel transformed personal loss into unwavering advocacy—helping ensure that other families would not face the same preventable loss.

Impact in Action: 25 Years of Progress

Over the past quarter-century, Rachel Moyer’s work has delivered tangible improvements in cardiac safety and real-world impact:

17,000+ AEDs donated across the US, in Pennsylvania schools, law enforcement vehicles, sports facilities and public spaces.

20,000+ people trained and educated in CPR and AED use

Served as an instrumental voice in strengthening Pennsylvania’s AED-in-schools initiatives and influential across national advocacy circles.

Trusted mentor for families impacted by sudden cardiac arrest, helping them navigate advocacy and healing.

Founding member of Parent Heart Watch and consistent presenter/educator at national conferences.

One of ZOLL’s most passionate and dedicated ambassadors, representing the mission at events and trainings.

Rachel’s leadership has driven awareness, empowered communities, and helped save lives.

Strengthening Communities, Protecting Lives

Rachel’s efforts have helped shape policies, increase AED accessibility, and train thousands of bystanders to respond confidently during cardiac emergencies. AEDs placed through her advocacy through the Greg W. Moyer Defibrillator Fund have been used in real emergencies, saving lives and reinforcing the importance of preparedness.

The Impact in Action Award recognizes leaders whose work produces real-world outcomes, where advocacy becomes readiness, and readiness saves lives. AEDs placed through Rachel’s efforts have been used in real emergencies, and the people she has trained continue to step forward when it matters most.
