Let’s put AEDs on the map

In a cardiac emergency, knowing where an accessible AED is could be critical. That’s why ZOLL is calling on volunteers and organizations to help make these devices visible to 911 telecommunicators and first responders during Heart Month.

Using PulsePoint’s easy-to-use tool, anyone can add AED locations to the National AED Registry (NEAR), creating a lifesaving network across our communities.

Better Outcomes

Why it matters

Each year, thousands of people experience sudden cardiac arrest outside a hospital—and too often, nearby AEDs go unused because bystanders don’t know ready-to-use AEDs are within reach.

A 2025 Harris Poll on behalf of ZOLL found that:

  • 74% of bystanders would feel capable of giving life-saving aid with real-time instruction, yet many don’t realize AEDs already provide this guidance.
  • 27% of bystanders are not confident they could even find an AED when needed.

Together, we can make sure every AED is findable and every bystander is empowered to help.

Through Anyone Can Register, we’re mobilizing volunteers and organizations to map every AED, across the country, regardless of brand, so 911 dispatchers and citizen responders can find them instantly when seconds count.

How to Get Involved

Starting now, we’re challenging communities to expand NEAR together. Here’s how you or your organization can help:

  • Register AEDs through the Pulsepoint AED app or AED.new
  • Encourage your business, school, or gym to check that their AEDs are registered
  • Host a local AED-mapping event
  • Share your progress on social media with #AnyoneCanRegister

Help Map More AEDs that Save Lives

  1. Download the free PulsePoint AED app (available in the App Store or Google Play) or visit AED.new
  2. Locate AEDs in your community, in schools, gyms, businesses, and public spaces.
  3. Register AEDs in the app, which captures location details, contextual pictures, and co-located resources such as naloxone.
  4. Validate: Once vetted by trained community members or public safety officials, the AED locations are added to NEAR and made available to responders and 911 telecommunicators.
