On May 22, 2024, a man in Upper St. Clair Township, Pennsylvania, experienced a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) at home. Thanks to immediate CPR by his spouse, a rapid response from local law enforcement, and the use of a ZOLL AED, his life was saved.

When first responders arrived, CPR was already in progress. Officer Allebrand took over chest compressions while Sgt. Lebetz applied a ZOLL automated external defibrillator (AED). The device advised a shock, which was delivered immediately. Officer McAlpine joined in, and the team rotated compressions to ensure continuous care.

EMS arrived while CPR continued, and a second shock was delivered by the AED. Shortly after, the patient’s pulse returned, and he was transported to a local hospital.
